The Hostal Horizonte, a casa de Madrid in the historic center
J. L. Gamallo. The Hostal Horizonte is located in historical and artistic heart of the capital of Spain, on a street that is already in the plane made by Pedro de Teixeira in the seventeenth century, Atocha street, which from the Plaza Mayor was heading shrine of Our Lady of Atocha, the patron of the royal family, and who were offered at the time of his birth and infant princes. The present appearance of the street is the one that took over the nineteenth century, when it built the most houses. Our house got up around 1857, although urban renewal after the Civil Guerrra affected the facade.
The people staying in our hostel will discover the magnitude of a nineteenth-century bourgeois house with long corridors, courtyards, high ceilings, tiled floors, etc.. One type of home as they are not, of course, nothing like the minipisos or studies of 40 or 60 meters. We have tried to maintain as far as possible the air of a house in Madrid stately and aristocratic air, both in decor and in its ornamentation. Besides its strategic location allows quick and easy access to major monuments, museums and entertainment venues of Madrid, Prado Museum, Reina Sofia, Retiro, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Puerta del Sol area square tops santa Ana, Huertas, etc.. The neighborhood, known as Literature or the Muses, remains the nineteenth century urban development, with houses covered four floors and balconies, while most of the streets have existed at the time of Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Tirso Molina, Quevedo and Gongora, the great writers of the Spanish Golden Age, domiciled in streets close proximity, and where life was taking theater (in the old theaters of the Cross and the Prince) and culture of the area. In Atocha Street was the press of Juan de la Cuesta, which hosted the primere edition of Don Quixote (1605).
